2. The latest word on Stagecoach opening is that the management is taking reservations for Labor Day, 3 September, 18. In the next section, Village Gallery, you will see pictures of inside Stagecoach taken about a month ago. Much has been accomplished since then but it will give you a snapshot of what to expect.
3. If you are curious about the business that is going into the nice brick home on the west side of Main Street, it will be a Flooring Store and maybe a retail store. If your home or business needs new flooring, now you know where to go.
4. The sewer line is moving down Main Street quickly. Last week it hit a section of solid rock that challenged the contractor. In the end, the rock was no match for the workers and machines. Stand by West Side, your time is coming. The sewer line and water treatment plant are on schedule.
5. Congressman John Carter spoke Saturday at lunch, Johnnies. Interesting, as he discussed what it was like to be on the Campaign Trail as a United States Congressman. Judge Carter told about some of the communication that he receives and the circumstances involved. His job is not easy.
6. The new Tourism Committee has met twice with the Tourism Director and the City Administrator. In the first meeting the following officers were selected: President: Will Lowery; Vice President: Sam Haliby; and Kay Coachman, Secretary. It was also decided that the Committee will meet every week to plan and organize the Way Ahead.
The Second meeting, the Committee received a course from the Village Administrator entitled “HOT Tax 101.” He covered the “do’s and don’t” when using and spending Hotel Tax. The State of Texas does not take the misuse of HOT Tax lightly.
