Latest Village News

The Golf Course Town Hall was Thursday, 9 August, 2018, 6 P.M. in the Intermediate Cafeteria.  Many, Many, Many residents were present to hear City Administrator, Don Ferguson explain how the BOA got involved.  Here are the facts:

a.  The Village did not initiate buying the Golf Course.  Two Representatives of the Golf Course came to Don Ferguson’s Office and asked if the Village would be interested in purchasing it.

Don took the proposition to the BOA where the following was discussed:

Why was it for sale?  How much?

Had it been offered to anyone else?  Were they interested?

Is the Golf Course that important to the welfare of the Village?  Why?  Why Not?

How would we pay for it?

Had an appraisal be done?

The BOA instructed Don to get all the facts together and bring them to a BOA.

Don gathered the facts and brought them to the BOA.

An Appraisal will have to done by a Professional Golf Course appraiser.   The BOA asked Don to find a good, certified, experienced appraiser.  The cost of the appraiser would be split between Golf Course Investors and the Village.

Why was the Golf Course important to the Village welfare?  Salado was known across Texas for the Golf Course, Stagecoach, Salado Creek, Barton House, Art, Uniqueness, and History.  It would hurt the Village immensely to lose any of those qualities.

Why was the Golf Course not important to the Village’s Welfare?

Cost and future Cost.
